Ten repatriates, (five from which head various firms, and the other five are individual businessmen) were awarded with the letters of the ministry on taxes of Abkhazia "For contribution to economy and business development, active participation in the state construction".
At the ceremony of the letters’ handling taken place on December 19 in the ministry on taxes, there were present the minister of economy Cristina Ozgan, deputy of the Abkhazian parliament Omar Kvarchija, and employees of the ministry.
Let's note, descendants of Abkhazian muhajiers had started coming back to the historical native land in the 80s of the XX century. The first numerous group of the young people arrived to Abkhazia for study and constant residing in the beginning of the 90s. Many of them arrived to Abkhazia for the first time during the Georgian-Abkhazian war and stood for protection of the native land; among the repatriates there were lost people.
After the war in the conditions of economic blockade, repatriates, as well as the other inhabitants of the republic, tried to survive, some of them were compelled to return to Turkey again.
A great Abkhazian Diaspora (descendants of Abkhazes, deported during the Russian-Caucasian war at the end of the XIX century) lives abroad. The most numerous Diaspora, about 500 000 men, lives in Turkey.
