The parliament of Abkhazia develops a strategy of solving of the demographic problems of the unrecognized republic. With that purpose the legislators initiated consultations, which goal should be to formulate some uniform conceptual approaches to solving of the demographic problems. The head of the parliamentary committee on communications with compatriots Soner Gogua informed that, the official web-site of the Abkhazian president.
Invited experts take part in work, too, among their number there are known scientists, including the representative of Abkhazia in the countries of the Western Europe Vyacheslav Chirikba. "Solving of the demographic problems is one of the serious problems our state now faces. And in our hands there should be powerful tools for solving of this problem", - Soner Gogua declared.
Members of the parliament discuss a number of the offers about creation of institutes for solving of the demographic problems. In particular, the decision on creation of the non-state Demography Fund which should accumulate financial means for deepening of repatriation process was adopted.
"On the one hand we realize the importance of solving of the demographic problems. On the other hand, at the state level there is no structure which would deal with this problem. There are no experts. I think, it would be expedient to create a Commission on demography by the president", - S.Gogua considered.
At the same time, the member of the parliament remarked that during the last years the executive authority reached essential success in development of the repatriation process. "Concrete assistance programs for repatriates, in particular, construction of habitation are being implemented. But we also should have long-term, purposeful programs on creation of workplaces for our repatriates, to improvement of the social climate of repatriation", - Soner Gogua declared.
As “Caucasian unit” had already informed, the president of Abkhazia Sergey Bagapsh had had named "catastrophic" the demographic situation in the republic. "The way-out from the developed situation can be found in the process of returning of the descendants of Abkhazian mahadjeers (people forced to move out from the Motherland (during the Russian-Caucasian war) to Turkey", - Bagapsh told. Thus he emphasized that for the repatriation it is necessary to create conditions, and first of all, corresponding workplaces.
The president informed that the question of repatriation is one of the key problems which he intends to discuss during his visit to Turkey. According to Bagapsh, he is also going to discuss the questions connected with the opportunity of opening of the direct sea transportation and trade line between Turkey and Abkhazia. We shall note, the most numerous Abkhazian Diaspora lives in Turkey. Now nearby 500 thousand descendants of Abkhazian mahadjeers live there.
