4/4/2007 Shamba: Georgia getting ready for war on Abkhazia
The main threat to stability originates from Georgia and the top Georgian officials who hide their true aims behind peace-loving rhetoric. Sergey Shamba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, made this statement to the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" while giving his comments to the Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili's statement that "Georgia will be ready to respond by aggression to the initiative of Russia of acknowledging Abkhazia and South Ossetia." We note here that Mikhail Saakashvili made this statement in his interview to the German newspaper "Suddeutsche Zeitung."
"We have already repeatedly confronted not only bellicose statements, but Georgia's actions - in 1992, 1998 and 2001," - Minister Shamba reminded. "The outcomes are globally known, and now speaking from the posture of strength after what had happened is same as making a laughing stock of oneself." In Mr. Shamba's words, "statements of this sort cross out all the peace-loving rhetoric, which is used to shelter the aggressive plans of Georgia in relation to Abkhazia and South Ossetia."
