13/3/2007 Abkhazia finds the information on bombardment of the Kodor Gorge to be non-credible
The information of the Georgian mass media about the artillery attack on the territory of the upper section of the Kodor Gorge with application of howitzers and "Grad" installations from the direction of the town of Tkvarcheli (Tkuarchal) has nothing to do with reality. Harry Kupalba, deputy minister of defence of Abkhazia, made this statement to journalists.
The Abkhazian deputy minister of defence does not exclude that sweeping of the territory of the upper section of the Kodor Gorge could be made from combat helicopters of the ministry of defence of Georgia.
Mr. Kupalba, deputy defence minister, has told today about it to journalists in Sukhumi. In his words, it is notable "that one of the MI-24 helicopters of the Air Forces of Georgia met an air crash, as a result of which three crew members perished."
The deputy minister H. Kupalba thinks that by simulating the bombardment of the Gorge, the Georgian authorities aimed at aggravating the situation and discrediting the activities of peace-making forces.
