In Sochi town charitable action "Peace makes by you", dated to the Day of Fatherland’s defender came to its end. As they informed IА REGNUM correspondent in the press-service of the administration of resort town, over 2 months in schools and high schools of the town they were organizing receiving of means, medical equipment, office equipment, household electronics for needs of Russian military men.

On February 20th, 2006 on the initiative of Sochi town administration, the Town Assembly of Sochi and the local branch of the party "United Russia" the Sochi delegation headed by the assistant to Sochi mayor Evgenie Kovalev and the vice-president of the Town Assembly of Sochi Vladislav Funtjakov went to Abkhazian republic. KVN team "Sochi Embassy", ensemble of the national song of "Kudrina" had to congratulate the peacemakers. The purpose of the trip was not only to made gifts and greetings from Sochi, but also to support the fighting spirit of the soldiers, to demonstrate special repertoir they formed.

They reached with command of the Russian peacemakers agreement on carrying out in the future new actions of that kind.

INFORMATION: the Peace-making contingent protects not only the Russian citizens in the territory of Abkhazia, but is also a vanguard division preserving against armed gangs-formations from the side of Kodorsky gorge. Almost for 12 years there they lost over 100 Russian peacemakers. Now more than 2000 Russian military men serve in security zone with the total area 3000 sq. km at the blockhouses and the check posts in conditions of the mountain district. Sochi citizens were personally welcomed by the commander-in-chief of the peacemaking collective forces in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone general-major Sergey Chaban and members of Abkhazian government. In the opinion of deputies of the Parliament of Abkhazia, "Russian peace-making forces are the basic guarantor of peace and stability in the zone of the Georgian-Abkhazian disagreement".
