Being in a visit in Georgia the US ambassador in the OSCE July Finley has met today the Georgian president special representative in the Georgian-Abkhazian negotiations Iracly Alasania. As IА REGNUM correspondent reported, after the meeting the parties informed the journalists that they noted necessity of activization of the role of OSCE in settlement of the conflict in Abkhazia.
"At the meeting we have mentioned some important questions; we had fruitful negotiations, and I consider it is necessary to make the role of the OSCE in the Georgian-Abkhazian negotiations more active", - declared Finley who also supported the idea of more frequent visits to Abkhazia of OSCE countries’ ambassadors with purpose of their better acquaintance with the situation, which "will promote development of concrete plans for the conflict’s settlement".
Note: today they also plan meetings of the U.S. ambassador in the OSCE with the prime minister of Georgia Zurab Nogaideli and the state minister George Haindrava (who on the eve had held a working meeting with the ambassador of the USA in Georgia on the situation in the Georgian-Ossetic conflict zone) concerning the peace process.
