From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 12/22/2005 10:09 AM Main version of "Moscow" hotel’s ignition in Gagry - arson 20.12.2005 On December, 20th at 5.00 a.m. there was an ignition on the fifth floor of the hotel "Moscow" (former "Ukraine") in Gagry (Abkhazia). The chief of the administration of Gagry area Valery Bganba informed about it in a telephone conversation with IА REGNUM correspondent. Under his information, as a result of the fire 14 rooms of the hotel were damaged. By a lucky chance during that moment there was nobody in the rooms.
On the place of the incident the fire service arrived and in a few minutes localized the fire. The head of the area administration did not exclude the version of deliberate arson as on the fourth floor of the building an iron lattice was been beaten out, and there were traces of penetration. On the fact a criminal proceeding were instituted; investigation was headed by the Office of Public Prosecutor of Gagry area.
Today in the morning representatives of the State Committee on state property and privatization of profit made visual survey on the place of the fire. The estimation of the damage will be done within 2-3 days. The chairman of the State Committee Daur Tarba assured that the incident was consequence of the arson.
Note: property of the state enterprise "Sanatorium "Moscow", located in Gagry, by the decision of Abkhazian parliament from December, 9th of the current year was sold to private property at the price of $4 million. The means received from sale of the sanatorium, except for a sum of the state tax and gathering, will be transferred in the special unappropriated privatization fund.
Sanatorium "Moscow" was put into operation in 1935 and has 140 rest places. It is intended for patients with diseases of cardiovascular and nervous systems. The main building is located at the height of 75 meters above the sea level. The health resort has a well arranged medical beach. The park territory of the sanatorium occupies 6 hectares.
