Forum of National Unity, the International Association of Abkhazo-Abasin people, the Society on relations with compatriots abroad "Apsadgyl" and the Cultural Center of O.Bejgua sent the leadership of Abkhazia a letter in which they remind about necessity "to take immediate measures for investigation of the crime committed against our compatriot". They meant the incident happened on August, 1st in the Sukhum sea port, "when a repatriate from Turkey was wounded with a gunshot".
"During the Domestic war of people of Abkhazia tens of our brothers from abroad had risen on protection of Native land, and many of them were lost for its freedom and independence. Then in Turkey and other countries powerful political actions in support of Abkhazia were organized, material means gathered, wide information work was done. The victory of our people caused the powerful emotional and patriotic rise owing to which to Abkhazia about three thousand descendant mahadjeers returned. However the post-war difficulties in social and economic spheres and the high crime rate had practically brought to nothing this tendency. Moreover, returning process the authorities could not stop has begun", - written in the letter addressed to the president Sergey Bagapsh, the vice-president Raul Hadzhimba, the speaker of the parliament Nugzar Ashuba and the prime minister Alexander Ankvaba.
The letter’s authors assumed that in the republic they did not give due attention to the problem "of the returned on historical Native land Abkhazes". "Instead of careful approach to them, the facts of their oppression at times took place. All loud crimes concerning our compatriots are memorable. The situation was also aggravated with appreciable complication of the passport and visa mode. Crossing of Russian-Abkhazian border on the river Psou practically became impossible for representatives of our foreign Diaspora", - spoken in the letter.
Authors of the letter expressed their hope for that "authorities will develop strict strategy of activities directed on development of the repatriation process". "It is unconditional, in this question the role of the public which should participate actively in resolution of this problem, so serious for our small nation and our not recognized state is very great", - marked in the letter.
