´´Abkhazia does not accept any preliminary conditions. The Sochi agreement that Georgia and Russia signed in March 2003 stipulates the resumption of railroad traffic,´´ the presidential information department quoted Bagapsh as saying.
Officials from Georgia, Russia and Abkhazia met on July 11 in Tiflis to discuss the technical details of rehabilitating the railway between Russia, Georgia via Abkhazia.
During the talks, the three sides are expected to agree over the composition of an expert group which will assess the current condition of the 60 km portion of the railway that links Georgia´s Zugdidi district and the capital of The Republic of Abkhazia, Sokhum.
According to Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Giorgi Khaindrava, results of this assessment will be known by October, 2005.
