The first part of Abkhazia and Georgia meetings on security matters come to the end under the aegis of the United Nations, taking place in Gali town, informed IА REGNUM.
Participants of the meeting discussed the first block of the questions concerning measures on executing the Moscow "Agreement on cease-fire and separation of the parties " and obligations for security in the conflict zone.
The parties agreed to hold in the middle of June next meeting at which, according to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Sergey Shamba, they " will discuss in detail the questions concerning guarantees of security ". " We have found mutual understanding on the discussed questions ", told the minister but did not name any concrete one.
On results of the first part, the parties agreed upon creation of a working group which would enter three persons from every part - representatives of law enforcement bodies of the Georgian and Abkhazian parties. At the meeting the question of changing the number of employees of the law enforcement bodies in the Security zone was also raised. The Georgian party suggested reducing the number with 600 up to 400 people. The final verdict on this question will be passed at the next meeting.
It was earlier informed that in Galsky area of Abkhazia, in Gali town, in the office of the UN military observers on May, 12 a meeting between representatives of the Georgian and Abkhazian parties, organized by the special representative of the general secretary of the United Nations in Georgia Haidy Taliavini took place.
The Georgian party at the negotiations was headed by the state minister on questions of settlement of conflicts George Haindrava, the Abkhazian one - by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Shamba. At the meeting with the Georgian party also there was the representative of the president of Georgia in the region Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Kaha Ardia; the commander the Georgian military observers in the conflict zone Valery Dzhaparidze, the police chief Zugdidi Merab Gergaya. The Abkhazian part was formed by the deputy minister of defense of the republic Harry Kupalba and representatives of Abkhazian administration of Galsky area.
