"If not taken care of in the utmost conscientious way, it might one day in the future make Europe look back at the Balkan war as just a warm-up exercise"

AMONG THE CRIMEAN TARTARS
. . . The shades of night had just set in as we arrived at a considerable Tartar village, called Kokkos, where we were most hospitably entertained by a rich mourza, who slew a young kid for the occasion, and treated us, in addition, with several other eastern delicacies. There were the never-failing pilaff, the chichlik and kefti, together with tarts and preserved fruits of various kinds. Our beds were also those common to the children of the East - mattresses laid on the floor, with cushions and coverlets. The next morning, at day-break, our coffee and tchibouques were ready; and, after making another hearty meal, we recommenced our journey, not a little gratified with the kind reception of our hospitable host, and also with the extreme cleanliness of ... >>Click Here For Full Article.

The Russian Partition And Annexation
Policies For The North Caucasus
The Muscovites lead by Ivan
the Terrible started their conquering, occupational, colonial and imperial wars
and aggressions, more than 450 years ago, against all the regions and states
around their concentration area in Europe and beyond, which continued through
the rest of the Tsars historical era, through the Bolsheviks, and reaching to
the present rulers of the so-called Federal Republic Of Russian. Unprovoked
violations and hostiles were launched against the peaceful
nations for controlling and dominating their destiny.
The Russian
Federation of today is the guard and the
responsible side of the stolen and confiscated rights and properties which lead
to divisions, conquests and annexations. The invaded and occupied lands and
territories of the occupied nations and states that Russians enslaved during the
implementation of their imperial policies still suffer being under occupation of ...

The world fiddles as the North Caucasus
simmers

An international working
group must be created on the North Caucasus.
The conventional wisdom that we can do nothing to tackle the problems of the
North Caucasus must be challenged. It needs to
happen before another Beslan turns the region into a full-scale conflagration.
This week, the one-year
anniversary of the hostage siege and massacre of children and parents in the
Beslan school gym is tinged with a specific sorrow; it could happen again.
The political situation in Russia´s North Caucasus region is dangerously
unstable but few outside the region are paying attention.
Beslan was an
especially depraved example of what has spread well beyond Chechnya.
Acts of intra-communal violence, brutal assassinations, explosions and
armed clashes are the norm in places such as Dagestan ...

Caucasus is not with me
We, Russians, are broad
people (though Dostoevski would like to narrow, and I subscribe in such case).
Nobody recollects any longer, why Russian empire needed Northern Caucasus. And it needed it as acquired Transcaucasia. And as wonderfull time has ended and
Michael Saakashvili obviously is not going to play the role of the king which
would become similar to legendary " such-and-such king at such-and-such year
entrusted his people to Russia ", the value of Caucasus (if not for climbers) is getting rather
problematic.
Azerbaijan also is not going to draw back,
under the Kremlin wall: it has both a fish, and caviar, both petroleum, and sea
bathings, and the western partners. Even poor Armenia will not
go again under yoke, with Karabakh or without. Also it is still not known who
will have to ...

Scientists reveal the secrets of an ancient
Alanian settlement
North-Caucasian
archeological expedition is about to accomplish a first complex study of an
ancient Alanian settlement near Kislovodsk (StavropolTerritory). As the leaders of the
expedition told a correspondent, researchers from the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the RussianAcademy of Sciences took part in the study as well as
scientists from Israel,
Great Britain,
Germany, and
USA. It was the first study of an
Alanian settlement of this kind when a maximum of natural-science methods were
used.
The study helped the
researchers uncover natural, social, political, and historic processes that took
place in the ancient settlement.
They learned that the
fortress had existed from the 6th to 10th centuries. It
was ruined and burned and after that rebuild again. The settlement is closely ...

'Caucasus-phobia' in
Russia
Adherents to xenophobic
slogans numbered between 50% and 60% in the first half of 2005 in
Russia, according to various social
surveys. The disliked ethnicities and peoples are largely natives of the
Caucasus: Chechens (14.8%), Azeris (5.1%),
Armenians (4.1%), and Caucasians in general (6.0%). Only Roma (5.1%) and Jews
(2.5%) dilute this list.
Such figures are quoted in
a report of the Moscow Bureau of Human Rights titled Racism, Xenophobia, Ethnic Discrimination, and
Anti-Semitism in Russia (January-June 2005). A major part of it is
devoted to "Caucasus-phobia" and discrimination against natives of the Caucasus
in Russia.

The Caucasian
Confederation
by Dr Rafael Adams
Part
One – The Roadmap
Introduction
This is a two-part essay
discussing the increasingly popular idea of a Caucasian Confederation: the
surest way of securing freedom for all Caucasians in a powerful independent
union of nations. The first part of this essay presents a roadmap, as it were,
of practical steps or "phases" towards a final, viable confederation. The second
part of the essay discusses the desired geopolitical alignment of the
confederation, the positive role of religion, securing lebensraum or
"living space" and the establishment of protectorates for non-indigenous peoples
currently residing in the Caucasus region.
Note: in no phase of the
roadmap are we relying on any positive developments towards confederation from
the Kremlin-approved North Caucasus
governments. It would be irresponsible for us ...
